It's been about a year since I started classes at Slow Clay Centre and I absolutely love it! I spent two terms in the beginner's class before moving to the intermediate class. Slow Clay teaches the Japanese style of building off the hump, so initially you make small objects, before later working off the wheel to make larger objects. It definitely teaches you how to centre your objects better, and a great plus is that it's good for your back!
The teachers are very supportive, and they're always there to guide you to make the shapes that you want to make. I've learnt not to be 'too precious' about what I'm making, to experiment and try out new things. Slow Clay Centre is definitely a safe space to try out and master a new skill, I would recommend the classes here.

this is a very well organised and professional course which allows students the flexibility of learning at own pace while following a well established curriculum . Jane is a very sensitive and experienced teacher who understands different learning styles and is passionate about teaching wheel skills in a manner which helps them understand the fine technical aspects as wells the ergonomics demands of wheel work. For continuing students it never feels stuck or repetitive. it is really excellent.

I love this course. Jane is a wonderfully helpful, straightforward and supportive teacher, with amazing ceramics skills. The studio is warm and lovely to work in. And the processes and studio organization make it easy to learn independently as well as in the classes. It’s been perfect, exactly what I was looking for.
